Golden Horizon

The ship is your destination!

The sailing ship Golden Horizon is the largest square-rigged cruise ship in the world. It is a replica of the famous sailing ship France II, which was built in 1913. The ship is 162 meters long and 18.5 meters wide and has five masts with 36 cross sails, totaling an area of 6,345 square meters. The largest mast is an impressive 63 meters high and weighs 24 tons, and the largest cross is 31 meters long.

Golden Horizon, under the auspices of the British company TWW Yachts, sets off on a unique charter. This exceptional ship is designed to travel wherever the wind and sea currents take it, which means unusual routes from different ports and departure. The plan is to be constantly on the move and sail around the world, including icy areas, during certain parts of the year. Whether you are looking for the adventure of a lifetime for a large group, an unforgettable wedding, or a unique business event, Golden Horizon will delight you.

The ship is equipped with the most modern navigation and communication equipment, and each cabin offers comforts such as the internet, telephone, television, music, and other means of entertainment. The entire ship is covered by a Wi-Fi signal. On the spacious decks of 3000 m2, there are three bars and three pools with underwater lights, heating, and bubbles. Wine tasting, cooking demonstrations, games, and quizzes can be arranged, and the central pool has a fascinating glass bottom and windows. The second pool offers the possibility of diving, with an impressive depth of 4.5 meters. In addition to the deep diving pool, there is a whole wellness program that offers a spa, jacuzzi, sauna, salon for cosmetic treatments, and regular yoga sessions on the sun deck while you enjoy the sea air.

The ship offers excellent food and service and attracts all those who want to travel the world in a slightly different way. This includes a sophisticated program of enrichment and well-being, as well as, for those who wish, the opportunity to take advantage of water sports at the associated marina. The kitchen spans three decks, and the restaurant has two floors and can accommodate all passengers at the same time. The air conditioning on board has been designed with special care to ensure passenger comfort in all weather conditions.

The ship has four luxury suites of 45 square meters with electric fireplaces, two bathrooms with two showers, and a jacuzzi. There are also 34 rooms with balconies, also equipped with a jacuzzi, while the rest of the passenger rooms on the lower decks have windows.

This is the first sailing ship in the world with the highest safe return to port safety standards installed, and it meets all the requirements of the US Coast Guard as well as the US Public Health Service. It is also the only sailing ship in the world to have received the highest possible rating for noise and vibrations.

Even in the design and construction, the concept of safe return to the port was respected because, since 2010, there have been new standards for increasing the safety of passenger ships, passengers, and crew. This system means that all the key equipment on the ship is duplicated, which is why the construction of two engine rooms with all devices for the production of electricity and water, as well as all fuel and lubricant systems and another additional command bridge, was designed. Practically everything on the ship is double, so in the event of any failure, fire, or flooding of any space or zone on the ship, it will be possible to return to the port from a distance of almost 2000 NM, which is normally the farthest point from land at sea.

The sailboat is, among other things, special in that it has the possibility of independent sailing without the use of propulsion engines in feathering mode (changing the angle of the propeller blades to reduce sea resistance) when the propeller blades with rotating wings (CPP (controllable pitch) propeller) turn so that they do not resist the movement of the ship through the sea.

The speed of the ship when sailing independently is up to 17 knots (kN), and it is predicted that it can sail up to 20 knots with the right weather conditions, depending on the speed and direction of the wind. It has rotating propellers, a bow thruster, and two rudders, which is why it has exceptional maneuverability. The ship's propulsion is diesel-electric. Two electric motors, 3300 kW each, and the energy to start them is produced by four diesel-electric aggregates with a total power of 8300 kW.

At the maximum speed of the ship, when driven only by engines, the fuel consumption is about 2 tons of diesel fuel (LSGO, low sulfur gas oil), and with the maximum capacity of the fuel tanks of 800 cubic meters, it has an autonomy of about 400 hours of navigation (more than 16 days). In addition to the possibility of independent sailing and navigation powered only by engines, the ship also has the possibility of sailing with the engine (motor sailing mode), which contributes to reducing fuel consumption and air pollution.

The ship is equipped with two aluminum lifeboats with a capacity of 25 passengers, which also serve as tender boats for transferring passengers to beaches; four lifeboats with a capacity of 80 passengers for transferring passengers to smaller ports; and eight rafts, four sports boats, and two smaller boats.

There is no shortage of enjoyment on Golden Horizon thanks to numerous interesting solutions and details. Guests can experience steering the ship at the helm, relax on a net above the sea on the bow during sailing, or challenge themselves to climb the ropes to look out on the sails.

The spa area offers various possibilities for relaxation, including massage rooms, two saunas, a hair salon, and a special snow room where guests can enjoy the snowy atmosphere.

There are also showers with a starry sky, but also a stern platform with a marina with various equipment for water sports such as sea-bob divers, boat kayaks, dinghies, two skis, windsurfing boards, and/or swimming in the open sea.

The Golden Horizon represents the pride of Croatian shipbuilding and a masterpiece of engineering skill. The ship's impressive dimensions of 162 meters and 36 cross sails create a unique visual spectacle at sea. The tall masts creating a beautiful contrast with the blue sky and sea horizon.

This ship allows passengers to discover the world sustainably, as all voyages are planned based on the winds and currents around the world, following traditional trade routes—a true maritime experience not to be forgotten.
